Trauma Counselling in Norwich and Online

Trauma can affect every part of our lives — how we feel about ourselves, how we relate to others, and how safe we feel in the world. It can leave us feeling anxious, disconnected, or constantly on alert.

Trauma counselling provides a supportive, safe space to begin understanding what has happened and to move gently towards healing, emotional regulation, and recovery.
I trained in Trauma Therapy at The Grove Practice in London, and my work is guided by a three-tier, trauma-informed approach. My goal is to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered throughout the healing process.
A Three-Tier Approach to Trauma Therapy
1. Safety, Stabilisation and Psychoeducation
The first stage focuses on creating safety and stability. Together we will:
-
Develop grounding and coping skills to manage anxiety, flashbacks, or overwhelming emotions
-
Learn how trauma affects the brain and body
-
Reduce shame, self-blame, and fear through understanding your responses
This stage ensures you feel contained, secure, and in control before moving forward.
2. Trauma Processing
Once safety is established, we gently move into trauma processing. Using techniques informed by Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT):
-
We carefully work through memories and emotions at a pace that feels manageable
-
Emphasis is on integration, not reliving trauma
-
Goal: reduce the impact of past experiences and help you feel more present and less controlled by the past
3. Reconnection, Emotional Regulation and Recovery
The final stage focuses on rebuilding self, relationships, and trust. You may:
-
Notice improved emotional regulation and calm
-
Reconnect with your own sense of self and meaning
-
Build healthier relationships and stronger personal boundaries
Many clients describe this stage as “finding their way back to themselves”, feeling more resilient, confident, and connected to life.

Why Choose Me for Trauma Counselling?
I combine integrative counselling with EFT-informed trauma therapy to provide a safe, structured, and personalised approach. My sessions are offered face-to-face in Norfolk or online, making support accessible wherever you are.
How EFT Works
EFT is based on the idea that emotions are key to understanding ourselves and our relationships. Often, unresolved or overwhelming emotions can leave us feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected. EFT guides you through a process of recognising, experiencing, and transforming these emotions, helping you move towards clarity, resilience, and connection.

My approach combines EFT with integrative counselling techniques, tailored to each client’s needs. For trauma and relationship work, I often structure therapy around three stages:

-
Safety & Stabilisation
-
Creating a secure space where emotions can be safely explored
-
Learning strategies to manage distressing thoughts or feelings
-
-
Emotional Processing
-
Experiencing and expressing emotions connected to past trauma or difficult relational patterns
-
Integrating emotions into understanding, reducing their control over your life
-
-
Reconnection & Growth
-
Strengthening self-awareness, confidence, and emotional regulation
-
Improving relationships with self and others through new emotional understanding
-
Why EFT Can Help
-
Helps you process trauma without feeling overwhelmed
-
Improves communication and emotional connection in relationships
-
Supports emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, anger, or sadness
-
Encourages self-compassion and resilience, allowing you to move forward with clarity
How I Use EFT in My Practice
Every client is unique, and I integrate EFT into a broader integrative counselling framework. This means your therapy is tailored to your experiences, needs, and pace. You are supported throughout the process, whether your goal is healing from trauma, improving your relationships, or learning to understand and regulate your emotions more effectively.
I offer face-to-face sessions in Honingham and Norwich, as well as online counselling for flexibility and accessibility.
